Roundhouse is different.

Roundhouse’s founders come from an architectural background, which taught them to value independent thinking and innovative solutions to design issues. Seeing little of either in the kitchen furniture market, their response was to set up Roundhouse.

A browse through our website will reveal how Roundhouse’s designs certainly look different. That is because they are. Our clients are individuals, so each and every design we create is individual, too.

When you look at the crafted elegance of Roundhouse furniture, it's easy to forget that it started life in the forest.

We never do.

We know we have to sustain this precious resource. We therefore source only timber that complies with the highest available standards of forestry management and sustainability.

Manufacture+
Installation

Manufacturing all our furniture in our own UK factory gives us complete control over quality and allows us to select only the finest raw materials and components. It has also enabled us to evolve a manufacturing style which, by combining modern technologies with traditional cabinet making skills, gives us the ability to offer you genuine flexibility.

We apply the same high standards to the installation process. Our installation co-ordinators will organise all the elements of your delivery and fitting, keeping in close contact with you every step of the way.

Design

The Roundhouse design process is a collaboration between you and us. We listen to your needs and wishes and work with you, your architect or your designer, to produce an individual design that’s perfectly tailored to you and your living space. The first step is our initial free planning service – it’s available in all our showrooms.

Design Choice

Roundhouse is truly bespoke.

We don’t invite you to choose from a finite selection of ranges. We offer an almost limitless choice of styles, materials, colours, surfaces and fittings, which you can see in our showrooms.

We realise so much choice can sometimes be confusing, so we have refined the process of creating your perfect design into a series of step by step options. These options are described on the next four pages, followed by case studies illustrating some finished results of the decision–making process.

Each journey is different and each individual design is unique. You begin with an important choice – do you want framed or unframed furniture?

Product Features

Drawer depth options
Our cabinets are big. Our drawers are 500 mm deep as standard, but can be manufactured to a depth of 650 mm (the industry standard is 450 mm deep). Their loading capacity is up to 80 kg compared with the industry standard of 30 kg.

Recycling bins
Our recycling bins all operate on durable soft close mechanisms and are available to suit any cabinet from 300 mm to 700 mm wide. The biggest bins can store up to 80 litres of waste subdivided into four separate compartments.

Gas lift doors
For flap doors, we use different friction stays for every different application, allowing you to specify wide and heavy doors that will stay securely open.

Versatile storage systems
Storage is one of the kitchen’s prime functions. Roundhouse offers any number of storage options for cabinets, drawers and larders to create different compartments that are exactly the right size for your needs.

Solid wood drawers with cutlery inserts
Our timber drawer boxes are all constructed using traditional dovetails joints, but incorporate the latest soft close technology as standard. They are available in four different solid hardwoods and in any depth from 270 mm to 650 mm. Storage in the drawer can be organised precisely for your requirements using customised inserts.

Stainless steel drawers
For more contemporary designs, we offer stainless steel internal drawers with fronts to match your kitchen. They are available with a variety of insert options for cutlery, crockery and utensils.

Tambour unit
We offer our sliding tambour units with a choice of wood veneer or painted finishes. There is also the option of a real stainless steel finish so you can achieve exactly the look you want.

Tall double larder
Our range of larders provides a variety of storage options. This double door larder comes complete with five fully extending soft close stainless steel drawers and dividers that allow you to store up to 230 kg of goods. The drawers are easily accessible and can be arranged exactly as you want.

Magic corner
Our soft close magic corners allow easy access to otherwise hard to get at corners. As you open the door, two baskets swing out and two further baskets are simultaneously pulled to the front of the cabinet, so all the cabinet’s storage space is used efficiently.

Swivel pull-out larder
Tall pull-out larders offer maximum storage for a contained space. Our swivel larder will also rotate 180 degrees in both directions when open, for easy all-round access.

Vertical sliding doors
Synchronised vertical sliding doors can be incorporated into any of our kitchen or living room designs. Pull one door and the other one moves automatically in the opposite direction. This system is ideal for concealing TVs, audio and home computers, or where access is limited.

Wardrobe storage
Many of our clients want their storage in the bedroom to be even more individual than in the kitchen. For our bedroom and living room furniture we offer a wide range of wooden drawer options; also illuminated and pull-down hanging rails, laundry baskets, and a range of bespoke pull-outs to accommodate everything from shoes to CDs.

Bi-fold, lift-up doors
These horizontal folding wall units can be left open while you work in your kitchen, giving you rapid, easy access. The doors will remain open in any position and the mechanism is so strong it can be used on wall units up to 1500mm wide.

Truly handleless
Our handleless Urbo range gives clean contemporary lines. All drawers and appliances, such as dishwashers and ovens, can be incorporated into the design without compromising its sheer aesthetics.

Child Lock
Our locks can be fitted to any door or drawer you wish to keep safe from little fingers. They are simply operated by a swipe card

Finger Jointed Worktop
We have developed precise finger joints as a strong and elegant way to create 90 degree angles for island worktops, tables and benches. They are available in all timbers.

Hinge in Period Profile
When fixing hinges to Period style doors, we cut into the beading profile by hand in order to create a smooth line; an example of Roundhouse’s attention to detail.

Wine Rack
All our open units come in a range of veneers. For a different, more contemporary look we also offer wine racks made from a framework of rods in chrome or aluminium finish.

Plinth Lights
Plinth lights add extra visual impact and atmosphere to the kitchen. They are low energy lights, available in white or blue, large or small, round or square.

Unframed
The European solution to cabinet construction, with doors hung onto the cabinet using sprung, self-closing hinges.

Framed
Products derive from traditional cabinet making skills. Wooden doors are hung on traditional butt hinges in solid wood frames which can be mixed and matched in various frame and door styles.

Living

The kitchen is not the only area in the house where our clients see intelligent planning and individual style. We have therefore expanded our portfolio to encompass, bedroom, living room, home office and dining furniture. All are designed to the same high standards. All are manufactured with the same attention to detail and quality. All offer you the same breadth of choice.

Detail: A concrete worktop emphasises the island as both the kitchen’s central feature and its functional core. Created for an architect designed house, the tall banks of units provide extra storage, while the book matched oak veneer adds warmth to the minimal scheme.

Detail: This contemporary kitchen in a refurbished 1970s house is a study in white using a variety of materials. The dramatic island with its chunky Corian worktop provides a breakfast bar and creates a link with the dining area.

Detail: Sweeping views of central London from this sixth floor apartment have been maximised by removing an existing wall between the kitchen and living room, then installing a kitchen with a reflective stainless steel worktop and a breakfast bar to sit at and watch the clouds go by.

Detail: Christina Seilern, the architect who transformed this old industrial building into a stunning family home had precise ideas for the kitchen design and brought her own drawings to Roundhouse. We collaborated closely with her to achieve this totally bespoke kitchen complete with sliding doors and a cantilevered worktop.

Detail: A large new extension provided a blank canvas for designing a kitchen that would relate to the dining and living areas. Storage is maximised in a bank of tall units tucked into a return wall. Detail: The client wanted clean lines and a contemporary feel, while retaining the character and many of the original features in this refurbished Victorian terraced family house. Detail: A narrow study off the master bedroom, with a tall library for books and storage for files, provides a sunny place for working at home. The use of oak for the wardrobe and desk echoes the oak in the bedroom and helps to integrate the two distinct spaces.
